National Human Rights Institutions: A Wikitool

Despite a growing profile in international legal and human rights scholarship, cross-fertilization of NHRI research with the social science fields has only just begun.

A practitioner-oriented literature has traditionally formed the bulk of the work on NHRIs, with particular regard for questions of NHRI origins, institutional effectiveness and narrative accounts of NHRI activity.  However, an emergent ‘second generation’ of interdisciplinary NHRI research is increasingly apparent. This research has applied creative theoretical and analytical approaches – drawing on international law, comparative politics and socio-legal scholarship – to what is an increasingly well-specified substantive domain.  The following links provide an overview of NHRI-related resources and scholarship.

In the ‘wiki spirit’ comments, contributions and suggestions are very welcome!
